1. Research:  Firstly decide main theme of your website and brainstorm to  find keywords related to your theme and write it down on paper.Now go to google keyword tool and write keyword on tool box to find out more related key phrases which are more targeted with less adword competition.Now check competition for that key phrases on google search engine by typing it in quotes like this "keywords" and note down all pages having this key phrase in their page.Also find site having this key phrase in their title tag by intiltle:"key phrase"  and note it down.Key phrase having having less page results with quotes and intitle is less competitive phrase and it will be easy to get into top for them.

2.Content : Create original articles focusing on those less competitive keywords ,Don't use private label articles or copy other site content.If you scrape other people content you will get penalized by google according to  their new algorithm update.

3.Domain name: If you haven't bought domain name them buy domain which includes your main keyword and If you can then buy old domain having authority links.If you already have domain then www.yourdomain.com/keyword.html will also be okay.

4.Title tags: In title tags use your main keyword for which you want to show up.wrap your keywords with other secondary keywords if it looks natural.
